The Kalashnikov firm unveiled the traits of a new-generation reactive armor for BMP-3 infantry preventing car designed by the Metal Institute. For the safety of sunshine armour and tanks’ facet armour, NII Stali has developed the EDZ 4S24 add-on armour dynamic safety system. The 4S24 aspect incorporates half the quantity of explosives of the first-generation 4S20 dynamic safety aspect, which minimizes the influence of an explosion on the protected armour and its environment.

The BMP-3 is a Soviet and Russian infantry preventing car, successor to the BMP-1 and BMP-2. The abbreviation BMP stands for boevaya mashina pehoty (actually “infantry fight car”). The BMP-3 is likely one of the most closely armed infantry fight autos in service. The unique model has a turret fitted with a low-velocity 2A70 100mm rifled gun which may fireplace standard shells or 9M117 Bastion ATGMs (AT-10 Stabber). It carries 40 100mm-rounds and eight ATGMs. A 2A72 30mm twin feed autocannon with 500 (300 HEI and 200 APT) rounds and a charge of fireplace of 350 to 400 RPM and a 7.62mm PKT machine gun with 2,000 rounds are mounted coaxially within the turret.

The system is predicated on a brand new aspect of dynamic safety, EDZ 4S24, which is the newest within the line of dynamic safety components developed by NII Stali – 4S20, 4S22, 4S23. It will increase the safety of skinny armor towards monobloc cumulative shells, grenades, armor-piercing bullets B-32, 23 mm armor-piercing incendiary tracers, and 30 mm armor-piercing projectiles. The armor covers 62 p.c of BMP-3 hull, 36 p.c of the entrance and 70 p.c of the turret. The safety operates at temperatures of minus 50 to plus 55 levels.

The hull and turret are product of a high-strength aluminum alloy, with the entrance of the hull being supplied with an additional metal plate welded over it plus spaced armor from the trim vane. The turret can also be supplied with a thick metal spaced armour protect over its frontal arc. Over the frontal arc, the car is protected towards 30 mm gun rounds at a spread of 200 m. Along with “laborious” safety, the BMP-3’s self-sealing gasoline tank is situated in entrance of the driving force, immediately behind the entrance armour plating. It’s specifically constructed to behave as armour, efficient towards formed cost warheads in addition to any auto-cannon shells that managed to undergo the entrance armour.
